We are privileged to have Laura Hoffman join us for our October 6th meeting. Her presentation topic will be Composition and Design, to help photographers of every level design and take great photographs every time. What makes an image stand out from the rest? We will explore what makes a photograph not only a keeper, but a winner!
She will also be leading our critique session in the second half of our meeting. This promises to be extremely informative and helpful. We will look at our images from the prior months outings and challenges to determine what we can do to the next level.
Laura D. Hoffman has a Bachelor of Studio Arts degree from California State University Fullerton and holds two full-time teaching credentials in Career and Technical Education and Adult Education. She is currently at work on her Master's degree in art with a concentration on illustration. She is a digital photography instructor at Saddleback Valley Unified School District Adult Education. Her current lineup of classes can be seen here. She can be reached for projects at

City of Orange, traffic circle http://orangestreetfair.org/the-fair/
Every Labor Day weekend for the past three decades, the Orange International Street FairSM (OISF) in downtown Orange has been the place where friends, families and neighbors get together to experience a wide variety of food, music and dance from cultures and ethnicities throughout the world.
Whether it’s Philly Cheese Steaks, Italian Sausages or Greek Loukoumades, the Street Fair never fails to tantalize the taste buds of the half million Fair goers every year. The theme for 2010 is “7!!”SM. The Orange International Street FairSM has served millions and remains a mainstay in Orange for over 35 years.

Saturday, November 20 Lummis Home and Heritage Square Museum and SouthWest Museum
Charles Lummis was sort of a John Muir of the Southwest. Hired by the Los Angeles Times over 100 years ago, he walked from Ohio to Los Angeles, reporting along the way. A friend of Theodore Roosevelt, he built this house out of local stones with walls so thick it has withstood numerous earthquakes in the last 100 years. Open on weekends at noon; combine your visit with the nearby Southwest Museum founded by Lummis, and Heritage Square (unrelated to Lummis) where historic houses from the area have been moved and are slowly being restored.

Death Valley trip
November 2010, date TBA
The event/ trip committee is planning a trip to Death Valley in November, 2010. I'd like to get an approximate number of how many people think they'll attend and how many rooms they will need. The rooms we request will most likely have 2 queen size beds and cost about $120 a night per room, not per person.
If we have enough people, maybe we can hire a bus.
Openings won't last long, so contact Myra as soon as possible to reserve yours today!
